  • Notes
    • Langford family of Northeast GA states that James was married twice but that his second wife is not known. This book also states that he was the son of Richard Thompson and Sarah (Sally), both born in North Carolina. Aunt Katherine (Katherine Thompson Lorrain) in a 1989 letter to Wyles "Tommy" Thompson says "I have a hunch that Revolutionary Alexander Thompson of Madison County GA [as recounted in 'Our Kin'] and Richard of Jackson, Hall & Forsyth Counties, were brothers. Wish I had Richard's luck! He won land lots in every land lottery he registered for -- including one "gold" lot on the Chattahoochee now in fashionable northwest Atlanta."
