- "...it appears the Poole family was residing in Granville County, North Carolina through at least 1779, when the last of their children, Benjamin Poole, was born there. However, William Poole the Tailor was already making plans to move to South Carolina as early as 1772, since on October 12, 1772, a plat was surveyed on behalf of William Poole, a tailor from Granville County, North Carolina, for 250 acres on Beaverdam Creek, a tributary of Fairforest Creek in colonial Craven County, South Carolina (present-day Union County). A grant was issued for the property on September 9, 1774.
In 1778, William Pool sold those 250 acres on Beaverdam Creek in Craven County:
26 Dec. 1778, William Pool of Granville County, North Carolina, taylor by trade, to John McKee of Ninety-Six District, South Carolina, for £75 SC money, 250 acres in Craven County on the Beaver Dam Branch of Fairforest adj. William Cane, Daniel Huger. William Pool (Seal), Wit: Samuel Noblet, Roger Smith. Proved in Union County by the oath."

Notes |
- ELIZABETH STOVALL, born 10 February 1739, married Granville Co., North Carolina, bond dated 15 December 1760 (as a spinster aged 20), Bartlett Yancey, surety, William Pool(e), born 22 June 1739, dead Spartanburgh District, South Carolina by 6 January 1817, when James Pool was cited to administer his estate. Spartanburgh District land records contain many deeds by William Pool(e), particularly to family members. One in particular is worth noting because it corrects the usual account of the many children of William and Elizabeth (Stovall) Poole. On 11 September 1812 William Pool, "Taylor," gave a tract of and to his daughter Sarah Gore. Further investigation reveals that on 2 December 1805 letters of administration on the estate of Thomas Gore were granted to William Pool and an inventory was returned January 1806. Sarah, widow of Thomas Gore, was in the household of her son William Gore in 1810. Whether she married Littleberry Quinn as a second husband I am unable to say; there are no land records for the latter, and the estate of a Littleberry Quinn was administered by Tolleson Kirby on 7 November 1836.
