      In the name of God Amen. I Michael Gilbert Sr of the County of Franklin and State of Virginia being loe in body but sound of mind and Disposing memory, for which I thank God and cauling to mind the uncertainty of Human life and being Desirous to dispose of all Such real estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with. I give and bequeath the same in manner following that is to say First my desire is that my funeral expenses shall be paid and Secondly all of my Just Debts out of the Sales arising from my personal estate, further I lease unto my Dear and loving wife Wilmouth as much of my personal estate as she may think proper to keep During her natural life and the remainder of my personal estate to be sot up and sold to the highest bidder

      on such Credit as my executors may think proper. And the money arising therefrom to be equally divided amongst my five sons namely Preston and James Kemuel C. Michael and Samuel Gilbert and at the death of my wife the Balance of my personal estate to be sold and the money arising therefrom to be equally divided amonst my five sons above named. I further give all my real Estate unto my five sons above named Viz. I give all that tract of land being in the County Pittsylvania Virginia to Preston and James Gilbert to be equally dided between them and their Heirs forever. Also I give unto my other three sons namely Kemuel C. Gilbert Samuel and Michael Gilbert all that tract of land that I now live upon which is laid(?) off to them Provided the above named five Sons pay unto my five Daughters three hundred dollars in two years after my death. Viz. they shall Pay unto my Daughter Sally Holland ten dollars also they shall pay unto my Daughter Wilmouth Taylor in two years after my death sixty six dollars 67 cents Also they shall pay unto my Daughter Elizabeth Dudley in two years after my death seventy six dollars 67 cents also they shall pay unto my daughter Patsey Law in two years after my death ninety three dollars 33 cents Also they shall pay unto my executors hereinafter named fifty three dollars And 33 cents for the benefit and support of my Daughter Nancy Wingo to be retained in my executors hands and paid over to her in small sums or paid out on interest and the interest paid early over to her as they may think will best permote her interest and at said Mays (?) Death if anything Should be left in the hands they shall pay it over to the Lawful heirs of her body to be equally Divided Amongst them. I do hereby constitute and appoint my three Sons Kemuel C. Gilbert and Samuel and Michael Gilbert executors of this my last will and Testament hereby Revoking all other or former wills by me heretofore made whereof I have here unto set my hand and Seal October the 16th, 1829.

      At a court held for Franklin County the 2d day of November 1829 This last will & Testament of Michael Gilbert Sr dec'd was produced in Court and proved by the Oath of John M. Holland Andrew H. Turner and John H. Ashworth the subscribing witnesses hereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Kemuel C. Gilbert one of the Executors, named in said will, who took the oath prescribed by law, and together with John M. Holland and Michael Gilbert his securities entered into bond in the sum of four hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs. Certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probat in due form -- hereby being reserved to the other Executors named in the said _______ to join in the Probat when they shall think fit.
