    • Archelaus purchased land and buildings on the shore of Demond (Evens') Pond in Rutland from Wm. & John McClanathan, in 1795. The sale of nearly 300 acres for 800 pds. was registered 30 April. We can presume Archelaus and Sarah moved from Sutton to the farm in Rutland soon afterward, as he was listed as the owner and occupant of 40 perches valued at $190 in the Massachusetts and Maine 1798 Direct Tax listing.
